Question:
I’m looking to buy a paddle boat, but I can’t seem to find anybody or any vendors that sell them. Does anybody out there have any suggestions?
Response:
do you mean a peddle boat, with peddles like a bicycle? If so, and you’re in the midwest, try Galyan’s Trading Company (a division of The Limited) – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -I’m looking to buy a paddle boat, but I can’t seem to find anybody or any vendors that sell them. Around here I’ve seen them at Price Costco. This year I see they even have one with a built in canopy. Larry

Question:
I have a high performance catamaran peddle boat that I wanted to use in the BWCA for a three day camping trip last Sept. When I checked into Grand Marais ranger station I was told I could not use this in the BWCA because it is mechanized. Ok, I can see maybe in the canoe only areas, but being restricted in the motorized areas as well makes no sense to me. Can someone add some light or logic to this ? This machine makes no more noise than a canoe, does not pollute ( unlike the motorized boats). It’s stability is superior to a canoe and demensions are similar to a full size canoe. Thanks

I would call the Grand Marais ranger station back, and explain that you want to use your craft on designated motor lakes. I’m not an expert on the regulations pertaining to motor craft, but it seems to me that yours is less impactful than a motor! I think you’ll get clearance based on motor routes. Good Luck!
